Awards and Badges
The Founder of Girl Scouts, Juliette Low, said, “A badge is a symbol that you have done the thing it stands for often enough, thoroughly enough and well enough to BE PREPARED to give service to it.”
Troop badges and awards are done in the girl-led, learn by doing, cooperative learning style.
Additional awards and badges may be earned at home with your family.
Awards and badges have a specific placement on the FRONT of the uniform.

Belong on the BACK of the uniform. Suggest starting at the bottom and working your way up.

SASH/TUNIC OR VEST?
If your Girl Scout is enthusiastic to earn badges, please get a Vest. #BadgesAreBetterThanGrades
If your Girl Scout is participating casually, it's fine to consider a Sash. However, it's likely that it'll run out of room. Earned awards and fun patches can be put on other things (suggest: Pinterest! Banners, Blankets, Tote Bags, Backpacks, Jackets).

A note about Badge Magic -- A lot of people use it without trouble -- and, for a while, I LOVED it and used it on Zachary's Tiger Cub Uniform. But when I had to move his Tiger Award for his Webelos Award, the whole thing became a mess, and I had to start over. It was sticky and expensive.
This is an unlikely scenario, because we hardly ever move Badges in Girl Scouts, and as long as they are put in the right place originally -- they stay put.
However, you have to get the Badge Magic perfectly, and get really good clean edges that are hidden, or it starts to gum up.
The other thing is that -- once it's been Badge Magiced, it CANNOT BE SEWN. The Badge Magic Adhesive is too thick, on top of the Iron On Adhesive that already comes with the badge.
